Our Mission
SiftGems was founded with one simple goal: to cut through the noise of online shopping and surface the products that are actually worth your money. Every day, thousands of new products hit the market, each accompanied by marketing claims, paid endorsements, and reviews of questionable authenticity. We do the sifting so you don't have to.
We believe that a great product review should be honest, thorough, and genuinely useful. That means hands-on evaluation, real-world testing, and a willingness to call out a product's flaws as clearly as its strengths.
How We Review
Our review process is built around consistent, repeatable criteria so that every product is judged on a level playing field:
- Hands-on testing: We spend real time using each product in the scenarios it was designed for.
- Comparison shopping: We evaluate each product against direct competitors in the same price range.
- Long-term use: Where possible, we revisit products after extended use to confirm our initial impressions hold up.
- Independent judgment: Our scores reflect our own experience, not manufacturer messaging.
Our Scoring System
Every product we review receives a score out of 10. That score is a composite that weighs build quality, performance, value for money, ease of use, and longevity. A score of 8.0 or higher means we genuinely recommend the product; below that, you should read the review carefully to understand the trade-offs.
